July 2025 - Presidents Report

Dear Members,

As we finish out another financial year and step into FY25/26, it's important to acknowledge that while there are pockets of growth and opportunity, not all sectors are feeling the same optimism. Many local businesses continue to navigate a challenging economic environment, and it's a timely reminder that where we choose to spend our money matters. While online shopping offers convenience, it often redirects revenue away from our city—impacting local jobs and weakening the fabric of our business community. Now more than ever, supporting local businesses is not just a feel-good gesture; it's a crucial investment in Tamworth’s future.

"Think Local, Shop Local" – Our 2025 "Think Local, Shop Local" campaign has so-far exceeded expectations. With a massive number of entries from shoppers across the region, this initiative has reinforced the importance of supporting local businesses. The incentive of winning a brand-new Hyundai Venue—supplied by our major sponsor, Woodley’s Motors and Tamworth Hyundai—has certainly added excitement. We also extend our sincere thanks to other key sponsors, Tamworth Shopping World and Centrepoint Tamworth, for their invaluable support. The true success of this campaign lies in the strengthened ties between businesses and their customers. Thank you to all who participated and to our media partners who helped us spread the word.

Tamworth Quality Business Awards- We officially launched the 2025 Tamworth Quality Business Awards, and the response has been phenomenal. With hundreds of nominations already submitted across numerous categories, this event has once again proven to be the largest business awards ceremony in New South Wales. These awards are more than a celebration—they are a showcase of the hard work, innovation, and excellence that define our region’s business landscape. I encourage all members to get involved, whether by nominating, sponsoring, or simply celebrating the achievements of your peers.

State of the State - We’re looking ahead to a key event on the Chamber calendar: the annual State of the State, to be held on Tuesday, 23rd July at West Tamworth Leagues Club. With the recent release of the NSW State Budget, this event will be particularly timely. We are honoured to welcome our local Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson MP, who will provide an update on what the budget means for our region. We are also delighted to feature Mark Sleiman from PRD Real Estate, who will offer valuable insights into the local property market and broader economic trends. I encourage all members to attend what promises to be an informative and engaging luncheon.

As always, thank you for your continued support and commitment to our Chamber. Let’s keep building momentum together.

Yours in business,

Dave Errington
