Annual General Meeting Nominations

Born and bred in Tamworth, I am the Licensee of The Pub (TPG Hotels) and Group Gaming Compliance Manager for Southgate Inn, Longyard Hotel, The Family Hotel, and The Pub. Over the past five years, I have led dynamic teams and supported excellence and compliance across some of our region’s most recognised hospitality venues.

In 2024, I was honoured as Australia’s first Future Leader in Hospitality, and in 2025, a Grand Finalist for the NSW Young Achiever of the Year. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to supporting local businesses and developing the next generation of leaders.

At 27, I bring a youth-focused and hospitality-driven perspective to the Chamber. I am passionate about fostering collaboration, supporting local enterprise, and ensuring Tamworth continues to thrive as a vibrant regional hub for opportunity, innovation, and community.

Born and bred in Tamworth, Daine is a proud local and a strong supporter of the Tamworth business community.

With over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Daine is the General Manager of the Powerhouse Hotel Tamworth by Rydges. Starting as a restaurant waiter at the Workshop Café in 2005, Daine has spent the past 20 years refining and honing his skills to reach the position he holds today.

This experience has also led him to join the Tamworth Business Chamber as a proud advocate for the local business community.

Daine believes in strong teamwork and communication, and he is passionate about promoting local producers, suppliers, and the Tamworth region as a destination for food and wine culture.

Outside of work, Daine is a proud father to Nova and husband to Suzie. He is a passionate sports supporter who enjoys a round of golf—but this is far outweighed by his love for video gaming and pop culture.

Margo Taggart is a dedicated member of the Tamworth community, was born and raised in the area with strong ties to her agriculture roots.

With over 2 decades of experience in the Real Estate Industry. Today, Margo is co-principal of First National Real Estate Tamworth, serving the Tamworth market in both property management, residential, rural sales and most recently completed a Diploma in Professional Coaching.

Margo prides herself on establishing a reputation of excellence and integrity, whilst actively supporting the growth to all small businesses within our community.  

Margo feels very privileged to be taking on her new role within the Chamber of Commerce as an active board member.

Outside of business, Margo and her husband Nick, have 3 grown up children, all schooled in Tamworth, enjoy the simple things in life. Good food, entertaining with family and friends, rural life and a healthy balance with exercise.    

Steve is the Financial Services Director at Forsyths and has over 30 years’ experience within the financial services industry. He holds a Master of Financial Planning from Kaplan Professional and a Diploma of Financial Services from Deakin University. He has filled a casual vacancy on the Board of Tamworth Business Chamber since May this year.

With an impressive background in financial services, Steve has worked with both local and multinational financial services organisations such as Westpac, Zurich and ING. He has extensive general management experience across strategic, operational and financial roles and has a track record of transforming organisations for success.

Steve is a former President of Maitland Business Chamber, former Director of Business Hunter and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is currently a Director of Future2, the charitable foundation of the financial services industry.  

Outside of work, Steve has a passion for exploring all that this beautiful country has to offer. He can be found frequently spending time in the outback in his 4WD with his goal being to complete the 2100 km long Canning Stock Route, from Northern Territory to the WA coast.

I started my working career as a Mechanical Engineer, specialising in HVAC pneumatic controls and reticulated water systems, mainly working as a consultant in commercial buildings, and commissioning 5-star hotels.

In 2001, I took a career change, and gained employment in Shopping Centre Management, and from thereon, I have basically remained. I have been involved in retail management, property management, leasing, marketing, facilities and commercial management.  

I have run my own business as a Consultant in retail operations, liaising with business owners, and guiding them as to how to promote their business, and how the optimise their shop fits for best customer visits. In my opinion, local business chambers are the back bone of the businesses in a town, but without the support from those businesses, the chamber can flounder. My drive here in Tamworth would be to get all businesses in the region on board. Tamworth has  an incredibly strong business backing, which I do not believe is evident to some businesses that have been operating for a long time. When I arrived in Tamworth 2 years ago, I was literally blown away by the strength of the inner towns retail strength. Where a town’s retail outlets are habitually closing their doors, Tamworth businesses have bucked the trend.

Getting the message out to businesses as to how much work the Chamber do in supporting locals and the local economy would be my focus.
