"Inspired Business Leaders"
Presented by the NSW Minerals Council, a sponsor of the Tamworth Business Chamber, business and community leaders will hear from guest speakers including Newcastle Knights coach Nathan Brown, at a special event to welcome the NRL team to the region ahead of their game against Wests Tigers.
The Northern region is home to a growing mining and services industry, which contributed more than $310 million in direct spending in 2015-16 including $111 million in wages paid and $186 million spent with local businesses.
The Newcastle Knights will wear their replica hi-vis mining jersey at the match at Scully Park in recognition of the region’s mining families and the contribution they make to the community.
“Mining is making an increasingly important contribution to the local economy and we’re excited to help welcome the Knights to Tamworth to celebrate the good things mining brings to the community,” said NSW Minerals Council CEO Stephen Galilee.
“We’re proud to support the Newcastle Knights and this is a great opportunity to meet the coach and players before their big game on April 21.”
Newcastle Knights coach Nathan Brown will feature on a panel covering a range of issues, including leadership and how to build a culture of performance and success. He will also share his own personal experience with the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service, which will benefit from fundraising at this Inspired Business Leader Series event.
“Tamworth is a very important part of the Knights catchment and we are delighted to be visiting and playing an NRL game here in Round 7 against the Tigers” said Newcastle Knights CEO Philip Gardner
“Our longstanding and valued partnership with NSW Minerals Council has always been a terrific platform to bring recognition to the contribution of mining employees themselves and also assist in highlighting the economic benefits of the industry. Mining and Agriculture sit at the heart of regional wealth. When mining is strong the region and State are strong.”
“The Knights will be proud to run out in the NSW Mining Hi-Vis jersey and as part of our commitment to the community, we will continue to strengthen our support for regional areas” added Gardner.
Tamworth Business Chamber President, Jye Segboer, said acknowledging the synergies between the Chamber, the local mining industry, Newcastle Knights and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service is important to the region.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for the business community to be part of the upcoming visiting NRL match and not just from the sidelines. Whether you are a rugby league fan or not, this event will provide a chance to get up and personal with elite athletes and learn about leadership, teamwork and fostering a culture of success.”
“We are very fortunate to work closely with NSW Minerals Council and are thrilled to be hosting this event with their support.”
“We thank them for giving us access to the guest speakers from Newcastle Knights.”
A signed Knights jersey is up for grabs along with the opportunity to ask questions and mingle with Nathan Brown and Knights players ahead of the big game on Saturday afternoon.
